Pirates of Penzance rehearsals take a break next week for Southampton Operatic Society's production of The Yeomen of the Guard. Pocket G&S puppet master Shaun Dodimead directs and also stars as melancholy Jack Point, the hapless Elizabethan jester who loses the love of his life to a callous, calculated Colonel Fairfax. This traditional staging brings out the dark side of Gilbert's most dramatic opera. David Tatnall (Wilfred Shadbolt) and Vicky Wilson (Phoebe Meryll) provide the comedy relief.

G&S Double-Bill on now!
- Details
Visit The Winchester Theatre Royal and The Point in Eastleigh over the next two weeks to enjoy a double-bill of Gilbert and Sullivan classics staged by Winchester Operatic Society and Eastleigh Operatic and Musical Society!
You may think you know HMS Pinafore, but this new production, full of fun and energy, will take you to places you have never been before! There will be plenty that's familiar - Sullivan's sparkling tunes beautifully harmonising with Gilbert's tale of unrequited love amidships and overturning the conventional social order. But as in many of Gilbert and Sullivan's operas, a surprise disclosure changes things dramatically in the end. WOS are bringing the nautical theme right into the 21st century and beyond, and will be blasting off in a stunning and exciting show. Come aboard and join them!
Starring Pocket G&S performers Adrian Hickford (Sir Joseph Porter), Dan Hickson (Ralph Rackstraw), Louise Hodson and Anne Croudass.
